Who can attend your block printing courses?Our workshops are suitable for everyone, especially beginners. Whether you’re looking for a creative outlet, a new hobby, or a fun way to meet people, our workshops are perfect for you. As a rule, we recommend that children should be eight years and older to enjoy the sessions. However, we understand that every child is different so are happy to book younger children if they are interested.

What is wooden/Indian block printing?Wooden or Indian block printing is a traditional art form where intricate designs are hand-carved onto wooden blocks, which are then used to print patterns on fabric or paper. It’s a beautiful, eco-friendly method that celebrates craftsmanship and heritage.

Do you offer private or tailored workshops?Yes! We provide bespoke workshops for various groups and occasions, such as: Team-building events: Enhance collaboration and creativity. Wellbeing activities: Reduce stress and boost positive emotions. Family gatherings: Enjoy a fun and creative experience with loved ones. Craft group activities: Perfect for quilting, embroidery, WI, and textile groups. We are also exploring running sessions for children's parties, and hen parties so please get in contact if you would like to discuss any of these options.

Where are your courses held?Our courses take place at venues across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex. We are always looking for interesting places to visit, so please contact us if you have a venue where you'd like us to run a workshop in so we can discuss it further.

Can I bring my own fabric or items to print on?Yes, if you’d like to bring an extra specific item (e.g., a tote bag, t-shirt, or scarf) to print on, feel free! Just ensure it’s a light-coloured, natural fabric like cotton or linen for the best results. You will also receive the fabric items you have selected as part of your booking.

Can I buy block printing supplies at the workshop?Absolutely! At the end of the session, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase printing blocks so you can continue exploring this craft at home.

What should I wear?Block printing can be a little messy, so we recommend wearing old clothes or bringing an apron.

What types of block designs do you offer?We offer a mix of designs, ranging from traditional motifs to more contemporary patterns. Whether you prefer intricate floral patterns or minimalist geometric shapes, there’s something for everyone. We have hundreds of blocks to choose from!

Are refreshments provided?Yes, we provide tea, coffee, cordial, and biscuits throughout the session. Feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks if you prefer.

What types of items can I make during the workshop?When you book your place you can choose what you would like to print on from a range of options. Options include napkins, tea towels, cushion covers, children's aprons, tote bags and table runners.

What happens during a block printing workshop?During the workshop, you’ll: Learn the basics of block printing through a step-by-step demonstration. Practice on test fabric to experiment and perfect your technique. Create and print your own design to take home. Have the opportunity to purchase your own blocks Expect a relaxed and enjoyable environment, perfect for beginners and those who want to develop their skills further.

What materials are provided?We provide everything you need during the workshop, including: Hand carved wooden blocks (over 100 designs to choose from!) Fabric paint and tools. Practice fabric and final project materials. Refreshments

How long does the workshop last?Our standard workshops last approximately two hours. We are able to adapt timings for private bookings to suit your requirements.

Are the blocks reusable?Yes, the blocks are extremely durable and designed to be reused for years. With proper care, they can be used for countless printing projects on fabric, paper, and more.

Who makes the blocks?Our blocks are crafted by highly skilled artisans, many of whom come from families that have been practicing this craft for generations. Their expertise ensures that each block is beautifully detailed and functional for block printing.

Are the blocks handmade?Yes, every block is carefully carved by hand. Artisans use traditional tools to chisel intricate patterns into the wood, ensuring each block is unique and has its own character.

What type of paint do you use?We use a highly pigmented water-based fabric paint that is natural and toxin-free. The paint is made in the UK and contains no solvents, no heavy metals and no animal products. They are vegan-friendly, wheat & gluten-free, acid-free and use recyclable packaging.

Is block printing environmentally friendly?Yes! Block printing uses minimal resources and is a sustainable way to create beautiful designs on natural fabrics. Block printing is also great for upcycling clothing and other items.

How should I care for the blocks?To keep your blocks in excellent condition: Gently clean them after use with a soft brush and warm water. Allow them to dry completely before storing. Store them in a cool, dry place to prevent cracking or warping.

Are the blocks ethically sourced?Yes, we work with suppliers who prioritise ethical sourcing and fair trade practices. This ensures that the artisans are fairly compensated for their incredible craftsmanship and that the wood is sustainably harvested.

What type of wood is used for the blocks?The blocks are made from high-quality Sheesham (Indian rosewood) which is a hardwood. These woods are chosen for their durability and the fine details they allow during the carving process.

Where are the wooden blocks made?The wooden blocks used in our workshops are handcrafted by skilled artisans in India, known for their rich tradition in block carving. India has an amazing history of creating intricate blocks for printing fabric, ensuring every block is a piece of art in itself.

Do you offer group discounts?Yes, we offer discounts for groups of five or more. Please contact us for pricing details and availability. Group sessions can also be customised based on your interests.

What is your cancellation policy?We price our workshops as fairly as possible and offer fantastic value for money. We therefore have to have a clear cancellation policy to ensure that we cover our costs as a small business. Please carefully check your diary to ensure that you are available to attend any workshops you are booking with us. We understand that circumstances can change, or something pops up and you are unable to attend, and we will always try and be as flexible as possible in the event you are no longer able to attend the workshop you have booked. Workshop bookings are non-refundable but we offer a flexible cancellation policy to help accommodate any changes, please read the policy below. If you need to cancel a workshop: 14 days or more notice: If you are unable to attend your booked workshop and it’s more than 14 days in advance of your workshop date, then we can either Transfer your booking to the same/similar workshop on an alternative date which suits you. If there are no suitable future dates, we can provide you with a voucher which can be used for a future workshop booking. Send someone in your place: if you can find someone to attend your workshop booking then please provide us with their name and contact number. Less than 7 day’s notice: Unless you can find someone to attend your booking instead of you, we are unable to offer a refund at this late stage. We will, however, offer you a half-price place at a future workshop. If we need to cancel a workshop: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop, we will always aim to give you as much notice as possible - a minimum of 24 hours. We will try to rearrange the workshop to a future date and offer a transfer to the rescheduled date, move you to another workshop date of your choice, credit you with a voucher to be used at another time, or a full refund. As a result, please ensure that all of your travel arrangements are flexible, insured and can be moved to an alternative date if required. We cannot be responsible for any costs associated with travel for any reason. We also cannot be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
